Getting A Library Card

Click here to access the online application to sign up for a library card with one of the SJVLS member libraries.

The application is for residents of SJVLS's service area ages 13 and up, and acts as a pre-registration that is valid for 6 months. Before you can borrow physical materials, you will need to visit your nearest SJVLS library with your ID and verify your account information.

PIN Number

You will need your Personal Identification Number (PIN) and the barcode on your library card to access online databases outside the library, renew items, request items, and to use the library public access computers.

Your PIN is a combination of four numbers created by you when you apply for a library card.

PIN numbers can not be given over the telephone.

If you don't remember your PIN, go to the nearest local library with your photo ID for help.

Library Materials Request

If a book, DVD, or other item is owned by one of the Kings County Library branches, you may request this material be sent to your local branch. You may place your own request using the library catalog, or ask a library staff person to assist you in making the request. There is no charge for this service.

If you have a book, DVD, or other type of resource to recommend for purchase by the Kings County Library, we welcome your suggestions.  Please visit any Kings County Library location and ask to complete our Library Materials Request Form. The titles requested are subject to the library's selection policies. Requests will be forwarded to the appropriate librarian for consideration. Please note that it takes time to acquire and process the items you request.
