Contest Details

In celebration of Library Card Sign Up Month for September 2026, the Kings County Library would like to invite the community to design their own library card!

 

Submission Period: September 1st - September 30th at 6:00 p.m., 2026

Community Voting: Sometime in October (TBA)

Eligibility: Open to people of all ages who reside in Kings County, California. 

Design Guidelines

  • Submissions must be original. Art should be hand-created, please do not use AI or digital media
  • Designs must not contain copyrighted material or designs owned by an individual or organization. 
  • Content must be appropriate for all ages. 
  • Designs must fit within the size provided; templates will be available at every library location and on the website. The Library reserves the right to make minor adjustments to the winning design to fit printing specifications. 

Who Can Submit

  • Must be a Kings County Resident.
  • Limit of one entry per person, age must be stated to determine age group category for voting. 
  • All entries must be submitted by September 30th, 6:00 p.m. No late submissions will be accepted. 

How to Submit

  • Using the template provided at the library or from our website - completed designs should include the artist’s name, age, and library branch location. 
  • Submissions must be turned in to circulation desk library staff by Tuesday, September 30th, 6:00 p.m. 

Judging & Voting 

  • Entries will be judged based on creativity and originality.
  • Submissions will be judged by Library Staff who will select designs for each age category (ages 0-17, and ages 18+) to be voted on by the community. 
  • The finalists will be announced in October. 
  • The winner of each age group will have their design featured on the 2027 library cards. 

Rules & Copyright

By submitting a design, you agree to abide by all rules of the contest, and you grant Kings County Library a perpetual and irrevocable right to reproduce, modify, or use the submission for any purposes without further permission from the participants and without compensation or attribution. The Library reserves the right to refuse any or all submissions. Designs will not be returned, and all decisions made by the judging panel are final.
