Frequently Asked Questions
Why are you no longer charging for Audio Books?
The Kings County Library sytem is striving to make more materials available to patrons at no cost especially in tough economic times.
Why don't you buy abridged Audio Books?
The library has traditionally not purchased
abridged materials, and the collection has presently been approved only for
unabridged editions.
How do you select the Audio Books?
Circulation figures help us determine popular authors and popular types of titles.
As much as possible, we
attempt to purchase Audio Books that reflect the preferences of the majority
of our readers. However, there are a couple of conditional factors. First, we must
maintain a certain balance to the collection because we do have differing likes
and dislikes among our readers. Second, cost is a factor, as some titles are
more expensive than others. In every case, we try to get the
best possible value.
Do you accept requests for titles to be purchased?
Yes. However, the ultimate decision rests with the County Librarian
